The King’s School were contacted by Lord Sugar’s office who had chosen King’s to take part in the National Enterprise Challenge. The Challenge is aimed at Year 9 students .

The year 9 challenge is focused heavily on Work Related Learning and Enterprise with obvious links to Business Studies. They had to find or create a product to sell which could be classed as ‘Best of British’ and create promotional material and present their ideas

Key areas covered are:
• Teamwork and problem solving
• Communication and presentation
• Art and Design
• Speaking and Listening

The business topics covered in the day are:
• Ideas generation
• Customer profiling
• Needs of the Customer
• 4P’s of Marketing
• Unique Selling Point
• Presentation tips

From the cohort, 6 of the pupils were picked to represent the school in the London finals in front of Lord Sugar on 2nd July 2013. The Winning Team were ‘Half Board’.They will compete against another 99 schools from across the country.

At the final there will be some presentations from business people including a keynote speech from Lord Sugar. There will be a Q&A session and opportunities for pictures with Lord Sugar.

This was a fantastic opportunity to for King’s pupils, and to give them some valuable work skills.
