The Ryman National Enterprise Challenge 2015
What is it?
TNEC is an inter-school competition that is available to all secondary schools in the UK. The challenge is divided into two age categories: Key Stage 3 (Year 7/8) and Key Stage 4 (Year 9/10).
The challenges are tailor made ‘real life’ business challenges. The 2015 challenges are set by Ryman, The Leather Satchel Company and The Alton Towers Resort.
How long does it take and what actually happens?
This is a one day programme, which has the follow up of a National Finals in July, so the winning group will need to work on their pitch once we leave the school. On the day, the year group are split into mixed ability teams of 6. Working as a team throughout the day, covering areas such as customer profiling, 4P’S of Marketing, U.S.P, advert making and presentation skills. Each team will be working towards a 3-5 minute pitch. The best pitches will make it onto the stage and the winning team from your school will be selected to represent you at the national finals. We tailor the day around your school timings and we provide all the materials.
What skills do we focus on building?
Inspirational Guest Judges
In 2015 we will once again be privileged to be working with our main ambassador Theo Paphitis. The former Dragons Den Star and Ryman owner was extremely popular at last years finals and was more than impressed with the quality on show ‘ ‘I am thrilled for Ryman to be once again involved in such an exciting initiative. Last year I was in awe of the children’s enthusiasm and ability to turn an idea into a working concept. These young entrepreneurs are our future and we need to educate them about business skills from an early age. Business success is very much about common sense and knowledge, not just a lucky break”
Each school that takes part in the challenge will send its winning team of 6 pupils and 2 teachers to The national finals which this year will take place at The Alton Towers Resort. At the finals there are also awards for the most enterprising students, teacher and school.
